The best traditional stuttering therapy programs are 70-75% effective. In other words, 25-30% of stutterers are not helped. The usual pattern is to go to the therapy program for a few weeks, learn to talk fluently in the speech clinic, and then go home and find it difficult to maintain this fluency in your everyday environment. Many stutterers experience relapse a few months after finishing a therapy program.
This is where SHGs help. They give you a platform to continue practicing what you learnt in therapy.
