I would like to share my experiences with Mr. Partha Bagchi, and his 15-day workshop that he had conducted in Goa in the year 2000.
Mr. Partha Bagchi had conducted a 15-day workshop in Goa in 2000, and around 15 PWS had attended, including small children of age group of 7 and 8. Mr. Bagchi in his introductory speech on 1st day, maintained firmly that stammering is not a disease, but it's a psychological disorder, and a bad habit of speaking in a wrong way. When he started with his techniques, it was focused on Relaxed speech, breathing techniques, meditation, prolonging. Which at that time, i had heard for the first time, but now i am hearing it everywhere, when stammering is discussed. We also had an interesting practice, of speaking in a prolonging way, in front of the crowd, on the microphone. The members from the crowd asks him questions and the person answers him on the microphone. This technique helped in boosting confidence, as talking infront of the crowd and that too on a microphone was a task I always felt was impossible for me. But when I did it there, it gave me lot of confidence. He also stressed that first step to "cure" your stammering is to accept it. (His book on stammering cure also has it's first chapter on Acceptance). On the last day of our workshop, he urged everyone of us to meet, and practice together. (Something like a SHG). He even printed the contact details of each member and distributed to everybody, so that it encouraged us to keep it touch and meet. It was a different matter that we couldnt carry it forward. I feel, Partha Bagchi's techniques go the right way in triggering a correct way of handling / managing stammering. I have also interacted lately with other people who have attended his course at his centre, and who say that they have "cured" their stammering. I never came across anyone who said Mr. Bagchi duped me, because his techniques were futile. Bagchi's fees are not as high as compared to a few others who claim of therapy. Also, when i had attended the course, it was lesser to what it is now. Mr. Bagchi is not a therapist, but he teaches his self-devised techniques from his experience. My Opinion: His techniques are helpful and in the right direction. Stammering did not stop miraculously, but it did teach me many things about it. Most importantly, It gave me hope that if Partha Bagchi can overcome his stammering, then i can do it too. And that kept me going. I would be happy to know the opinion of other members of the association who have read about him / attended his workshop or just an opinion on my experiences. Ninjaboard - Experienced

Harish, you have recounted quite well..
Yes, acceptance is the key; also, we have to learn that 'healing' is with in. Not outside. External circumstances just strengthen that belief- that it is with in me.. I welcome many more such sharings. sachin

Thanks Harry for sharing this with us. Mr Bagachi is also using the same techniques that we are using in TISA. The only difference is that Sachin sir is teaching all this free of cost and Mr Bagachi is charging for this. But He also has to make his living , so he can do that.
But again and again the focus comes on Acceptance.Although I am accepting ma stammer but still waiting to see that magic of acceptance. Each and every person is talking about Acceptance. Lets wait and see what happens.

Dear Manpreet
Our mind plays many tricks on us: Okay, I have accepted my stammer- now, a miracle should happen- should it not? Well- let me wait for that miracle! The fact is- the miracle (acceptance) has happened. Now, just carry on with life- do what has to be done.. Dont wait for anything to happen- Only those things happen which you CAUSE to happen.. That is the simple secret.. Do you get it? Last thing- Acceptance in our case has to be practised on a daily basis, like brushing your teeth- After sometime you start enjoying it.. sachin
